We take pride in being able to assist in uplifting the communities within which we work, while also sustaining the arts in South Africa through our sponsorship of the Joburg Theatre’s annual pantomime.
Social investment: a focus on youth and education
BankservAfrica’s social investment focus is on education - the fundamental building blocks for the development of communities. Our aim is to uplift the communities in which we operate and the lives of our staff members. We encourage our employees to get involved in these communities and we know that this motivates and engages them.
Current CSR initiatives include the Randeor School in Winchester Hills, the MC Kharbai School in Lenasia, the Harvey Cohen School in Eldorado and the Paradise Creche in Ormonde.
A monthly initiative ensures disadvantaged staff receive a monthly hamper of fresh vegetables and dry ingredients.
The CSI committee also arranges events during the year to raise much-needed funds for the schools. Each year BankservAfrica participates in a winter warmer drive. This may vary from donating parcels of warm clothing and groceries to shelters to donating clothes and shoes to children’s homes.
BankservAfrica is committed to the sustainability of the arts in South Africa and we strongly believe the arts are fundamental to the multi-cultural heritage of South Africans. Thus we proudly support multiple art initiatives and projects.
In 2011 we became the first official sponsor of the Joburg Theatre’s annual pantomimes and have continued with this sponsorship, reiterating our focus on investing in local talent. Janice Honeyman’s pantomimes are a staple of the Johannesburg season, bringing together legendary South African actors and is fundamental to the heritage of South African theatre. Theatre goers can look forward to seeing Aladdin in the 2013 season.
We also support Art of Motion, a high performance dance and rhythmic gymnastics training facility. This sponsorship is inline with our commitment to supporting the youth of South Africa. In addition to creating opportunities for Art of Motion dancers and gymnasts to compete at international level, the sponsorship provides much needed encouragement for the growth of South African dance and gymnastics.
