BankservAfrica runs two processing facilities in parallel to ensure core processing continues uninterrupted if a disaster occurs at the production facility.
With the critical responsibility of keeping financial transaction switching and processing systems up and running, BankservAfrica has established an operations control centre (BOCC) to monitor its systems and track problem resolution. The BOCC aims to maintain and improve BankservAfrica’s client service level agreements, which focus on high availability, keeping money flowing through the economy.
The sophisticated monitoring and problem resolution tracking system is designed to alert BankservAfrica to errors quickly and efficiently, enabling immediate response and saving costs and time.
The information on the two sites’ systems is reconciled daily to ensure optimum efficiency. As part of the Payments Association of South Africa’s (PASA) regulatory requirements and to ensure that banks will be able to process from the disaster recovery site, each settlement service performs a live disaster recovery run once a year.
Transaction and data replication are fully automated between the processing centres. BankservAfrica’s card products operate in full continuous processing (active/active) mode, which allows participating banks to connect to any site, ensuring ongoing availability of services to their clients.
